Lydia Garrow has a voice with the versatility to sing 'deeply-moving' balads as well as sassy bossa nova numbers. Her sensitivity to each song will draw you in. Born into a bohemian family where music was a staple the diet, Lydia Garrow grew up in an environment where singing and playing instruments were a natural progression. As such Lydia has been singing since she was a young child.After winning a music scholarship to Francis Holland School in London, Lydia's potential was nurtured by renowned tenor and vocal coach Arwel Morgan. Following this, whilst studying for her Masters, she continued her training with Dr. Eric Von Ibler of the Schola Cantorum of Edinburgh and head of Lieder at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
An early introduction to the great female jazz vocalists such as Sarah Vaughan, Billy Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald as well as contemporary singers such as Stacey Kent and Madeleine Peyroux ignited Lydia's passion for jazz. Having sung professionally from the age of 17 Lydia has sung at many events around the world, including France, Holland, Ireland, Cyprus, America and Australia to name a few. Lydia regularly performs in Jazz clubs in London including The Bull's Head, Barnes and Pizza Express, Soho, as well as a multitude of private events including cocktail parties, private views and weddings.
